What is your greatest 'adventure' (or extreme sports) achievement? Why?

In terms of 'greatness' I would have to say winning Gladiators (2008) but in terms of physical and mental achievement definitely the Urban Adventure Race (Rat Race) held late 2008.

What do you believe will be your strongest leg & why; trail run, mountain bike, 4WD, poker?

The trail run and the mountain bike legs. I was a sprinter as teenager but now run ultra-marathons so I'd like to believe that I have speed and endurance on foot. I also spent a few years in Canberra where the only hobbies to take up in the freezing cold southern suburbs were trail riding or skiing. I quickly realised that skiing is a rich man's sport, so I spent most of my afternoons riding trails through the mountains and downhill tracks through the pine trees (Very Fun!).

On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate your current level of fitness?

8

Why did you enter the Men's Challenge?

One of my personal training clients saw it on the Women's Health Facebook group. She told me about the challenge and convinced me to give it a shot so here I am.

If you were forced to give up all your gadgets bar one, what would it be and why?

My existence and quality of life solely depends on my Blackberry Bold. Without it I would not be able to organise client times for work, communicate with family, track my distance and speed whilst running or practise playing poker for this challenge.

What would you cook a woman to impress her on a first date?

White meat is usually a safe option so I would cook baked chicken breast filled with brie cheese and covered with tasty Mediterranean sauce, served with fresh vegetables. For desert I would whip up a family secret recipe sticky date pudding and ice cream. Then maybe a little chocolate to keep her happy in case she didn't like the meal.

What's the most fun you've had on four wheels?

Quad bike dirt boarding. This was invented by a friend from Tamworth and myself. It's very simple; you take a 20 litre 'plastic' jerry can and slice it in half from top to bottom, tie a rope to the back of a four wheeler, sit in one of the sled's that you just made and go for it. Most of the speed is generated in the corners so you don't need to go dangerously fast in a straight line which means you don't need much room. This sport gets really interesting when you add a bit of friendly competition and some bumps.

What are you thinking about when you've got your poker face on?

I pretend I'm in a lecture or a really boring meeting at work, I'm still thinking but externally I look like a zombie.

Who is your favourite superhero and why?

Wolverine. I thought this was a given but I'll explain anyway. He is envied by most teenage boys and grown men alike because he is unbreakable, has swords that come out of his hands and although he is the hairiest, roughest superhero I don't believe there is a woman out there, young or old, that would not jump Hugh Jackman.

What does confidence mean to you?

The ability to approach anyone or anything without doubting yourself or your actions.

Do you have any career aspirations?

The reason I am applying for the Melbourne Fire Brigade is because I believe it is one of the most rewarding things a person can do and to call it a job and be paid for it is just amazing. Don't get me wrong personal training is also an extremely rewarding job. I change the lives of people everyday but to save a life especially that of a child, who has yet to have the chance at living one, would be indescribable.
